Insurance, Medicaid & Funding Partnerships
Supporting Care, Stability & Community Wellness
At Muffyn’s Specialized Healthcare Services (MSHS), we believe access to quality care and support services should never be limited by financial hardship. As a licensed healthcare staffing and community support organization approved by the Maryland Department of Health and the Office of Health Care Quality, we work every day to remove barriers to care for individuals and families across Baltimore City and surrounding communities.
Through Medicaid, insurance partnerships, and community-based funding, we provide critical services to children, adults, seniors, caregivers, and underserved families—with a strong focus on respite care, disability support, and family stabilization services.
Why Funding Support Matters
Many of the individuals and families we serve face:
Financial hardship or underinsurance
Long waitlists for waiver or Medicaid-funded services
Caregiver burnout due to lack of respite support
Limited access to transportation and community resources
Mental health, developmental, or behavioral challenges
Without adequate funding, families often go without the support they need to remain safe, stable, and independent.
Your investment helps bridge these gaps.
Our Funding & Service Model
MSHS utilizes a blended funding model to deliver sustainable and equitable services:
✔ Medicaid & Insurance-Based Services
We coordinate with Maryland Medicaid programs, waiver services, and select insurance providers to deliver covered services including:
In-home support and personal care
School-based and developmental services
Medical transportation and appointment escorts
Behavioral and community support services
✔ Grant-Funded & Community-Supported Services
Through partnerships with foundations, donors, and community organizations, we provide services that are not always fully covered, including:
Respite care services for overwhelmed caregivers
Emergency and short-term stabilization support
Youth and young adult workforce and life-skills programs
Support for families impacted by mental health or substance use challenges
Focus Area: Respite Care & Caregiver Support
One of our most urgent community needs is respite care.
Caregivers of children with disabilities, aging parents, or loved ones with behavioral health challenges often provide 24/7 care without relief. This can lead to:
Caregiver burnout
Mental and physical health decline
Loss of employment or income
Family instability
Through funding support, MSHS provides:
Scheduled and emergency respite care
Short-term relief services for family caregivers
Companion support for seniors and adults with disabilities
Safe supervision for children with special needs
Every funded hour of respite care gives a caregiver time to rest, work, heal, or simply breathe.
Community Impact
With the support of funding partners, MSHS is able to:
Expand access to care for underserved and vulnerable populations
Reduce caregiver stress and prevent family crisis situations
Improve school and health outcomes for children and youth
Support independent living for seniors and adults with disabilities
Provide culturally competent care to Hispanic and LGBTQ+ communities
Create meaningful employment opportunities for healthcare professionals
Partnership Opportunities for Funders
We welcome partnerships with:
Private foundations
Corporate sponsors
Healthcare systems and managed care organizations
Community and faith-based organizations
Local and state grant programs
Funding can support:
Respite care service expansion
Community outreach and access programs
Workforce development and training
Transportation and escort services
Youth empowerment and behavioral health programs
We provide clear reporting, measurable outcomes, and transparent use of funds to ensure accountability and impact.
Essential Medical Supplies & Equipment Support
Removing Barriers to Daily Living & Health Stability
At Muffyn’s Specialized Healthcare Services (MSHS), we recognize that access to care goes beyond services—it includes the essential medical supplies and durable medical equipment (DME) that individuals need to live safely, comfortably, and with dignity.
Unfortunately, many of these critical items are not fully covered—or not covered at all—by Medicaid, Medicare, or private insurance, leaving families to face overwhelming out-of-pocket costs.
Through funding partnerships, donations, and community support, MSHS helps bridge this gap by providing or coordinating access to necessary medical supplies and equipment for children, adults, seniors, and caregivers in our community.
Critical Supplies & Equipment We Help Provide
Funding support helps us secure essential equipment such as:
Wheelchairs (manual and power)
Mobility scooters
Walkers and gait trainers
Hospital beds and safety equipment
Transfer and lift devices
These items are vital for mobility, safety, and independence, especially for individuals with disabilities or chronic health conditions.
Daily Medical & Personal Care Supplies
Many families struggle to afford ongoing supplies such as:
Adult briefs and diapers
Pediatric diapers and pull-ups
Bed pads and incontinence supplies
Gloves, wipes, and hygiene items
Wound care and basic medical supplies
These are recurring monthly needs, and funding ensures families are not forced to choose between healthcare and basic living expenses.
Orthotics, Braces & Support Devices
Orthotic and mobility support devices are often partially covered or denied by insurance plans.
MSHS helps individuals obtain:
Custom orthotics
Leg, ankle, and spinal braces
Supportive footwear and mobility aids
These devices improve mobility, pain management, and long-term physical health outcomes.
Vision Support: Eyeglasses & Eye Care
Clear vision is essential for learning, working, and independence, yet many individuals cannot afford corrective lenses.
Through funding support, MSHS helps provide:
Eyeglasses for children and adults
Vision screenings and referrals
Replacement lenses for damaged or lost eyewear
Nutritional & Medical Feeding Support
For infants, children, and medically fragile individuals, proper nutrition is critical to survival and development.
MSHS assists with access to:
Baby formula and nutritional supplements
G-Tube (gastrostomy tube) feeding supplies
Enteral feeding pumps and accessories
Specialized dietary support products
These items are often high-cost and urgently needed, especially for families managing complex medical conditions.
Why This Support Matters
Without access to proper supplies and equipment:
Children may miss school or developmental milestones
Seniors may experience preventable injuries or hospitalizations
Caregivers face increased physical and emotional strain
Families experience financial crisis trying to cover basic needs
These are not luxuries—they are necessities for safe, stable, and dignified living.
How Funders & Partners Make an Impact
Through your support, MSHS can:
Provide essential DME and medical supplies to families in need
Reduce hospitalizations and emergency care costs
Improve quality of life and independence for clients

Ensure equitable access to healthcare essentials in underserved communities
Every donation, grant, or partnership directly supports real people with real needs.
Partnership & Donation Opportunities
We welcome partnerships to support:
DME equipment purchase programs
Monthly medical supply assistance for families
Emergency medical needs funding
Pediatric and disability support supply kits

In-kind donations of new medical equipment and supplies are also welcomed.
