At Muffyn’s Specialized Healthcare Services (MSHS), our commitment to supporting families caring for loved ones with disabilities is deeply personal. This initiative is offered in loving memory of Jamal Davis-Brooks, whose life and journey helped our organization understand firsthand the profound need for compassionate support through respite care, adult care, and child care funding assistance to families.

While Jamal’s family was blessed to have access to some resources and support, we recognize that many families in our community are not afforded the same opportunities. Through that lived experience, MSHS was inspired to expand our mission by providing financial assistance to help families access the care services they need.

At Muffyn’s Specialized Healthcare Services (MSHS), we understand the challenges of caring for loved ones with disabilities or special needs. While we do not directly provide care services under this initiative, we offer funding assistance to help families access respite care, adult care, and child care services within their communities.

These funds are designed to ease the financial burden and ensure families can obtain safe, reliable, and quality care when they need it most.

Caring for a loved one with special needs can be both rewarding and deeply demanding—physically, emotionally, and financially. Our funding assistance program helps relieve some of that burden by supporting access to essential care services, allowing caregivers to rest, work, and maintain their overall well-being.

Who May Benefit

You or your family may be eligible for funding assistance if you:

  • Need financial support to access respite, adult, or child care services
  • Feel overwhelmed, exhausted, or burned out
  • Are balancing work and caregiving responsibilities
  • Need support to maintain your health and well-being
  • Require temporary care coverage for your loved one

What the Funding Supports

Approved applicants may receive financial assistance to help cover:

  • Respite care services
  • Adult day care services
  • Child care and after-school support
  • Short-term care needs for individuals with disabilities
  • Other qualifying care-related expenses (as approved)

Funding Assistance

Eligible families may receive grant awards ranging from $250 to $500 to assist with the cost of respite care, adult care, or child care services. Funding is limited and awarded based on demonstrated financial need, eligibility criteria, and availability of funds.

Families may apply once per year, and all applications are subject to review and approval.
